In the latest issue of Macworld, on page 45, Apple declares the NPR News app for iPad (developed by Bottle Rocket) to be an essential app to have.

Dan Frakes explains why NPR News for iPad is an essential free favorite:
Who said Internet audio killed radio? NPR for iPad proves that networks can embrace the Internet to make their radio and Web offerings even more compelling. Like NPR’s iPhone app, the free iPad version lets you browse NPR news, shows, and podcasts; you can read or listen immediately, or save audio programs to a playlist you can listen to at any time. The app also lets you listen to streaming audio of many NPR-affiliate stations across the country. But the iPad app adds emphases on the multimedia-friendly areas of NPR’s coverage—Arts & Life and Music topics—and takes advantage of the iPad’s larger screen to make it easier to find content and more enjoyable to consume it. It’s public radio on-demand, and it makes NPR appealing even to the NPR-agnostic among us.

Please excuse us if we are not responsive today.
We have been awaiting the iPhone 4 arrival for a long time. Some of us were smart (or is it lucky?) and pre-ordered the iPhone 4 to be delivered lovingly to our doorstep. Others of us will be waiting in line first thing Thursday morning. Nonetheless, all of us soon-to-be iPhone 4 owners have awaited this day for a while. Whether we are anxiously waiting in line or already experimenting with your new feature set, you can rest assured that 100% of our attention will be focused on the iPhone 4 today. (If you are a current client, we promise that we’re actually working very hard on your app!)
We can now enjoy our favorite Apple apps in a new and different way:
- Multitasking: Listen to NPR Music in the background as we play Doodle Bomb.
- Thinner Frame: And, of course, buying all the accessories to accompany the new design.
- Gift Apps: Sending mom the Gas Buddy app so she can find the cheapest gas nearest her GPS location.
- Video Calling: Using FaceTime to tell our friends and family about the new (soon to be announced) Bottle Rocket apps.
- Extended Battery Life: Spending more time with the Disney® Craft Finder without having to hook up for more juice.
How will you be spending quality time with your new iPhone 4?

NPR for iPad, developed by Bottle Rocket, has always been among the most popular news apps in the iTunes Store. On June 14, NPR’s CEO Vivian Schiller announced at Wired Magazine’s business conference in New York City that the iPad app has already been downloaded some 350,000 times.
Considering that only about 2 million iPads have been sold to date, that means that about one in six iPad owners have Bottle Rocket’s app on their device. How many other iPad apps can say that?
