Overnight: Kitchen Sink Included

Monday, December 15th, 2008

The name we gave Overnight on the App Store is “Overnight: Express Shipping, Tracking, Pricing & Drop Locations”. We know that’s a mouthful, but this app is an iPhone full. There really is no way to describe how much actually went into this app.

We started working on Overnight back in June BEFORE the App Store launched. I know what you’re thinking, “wow, these guys are slow”. Trust us, that’s not the case. Overnight is one of those home-fix-it projects that starts out as something as simple as re-caulking the bath tub. So you head to Home Depot or Lowes and buy some caulk, but while you’re there you see some great looking tile. But when you get the tile in, the sink doesn’t match. You see where I’m going. Before you know it, you have a $25,000 bathroom remodel job on your hands. But when you’re finally done, you realize it’s a masterpiece and you’re so happy to you did it.

That’s how we feel about Overnight. It’s truly amazing how many features we crammed into this app. In fact, we’d like to use the full word. Let’s call it an application. So that we don’t repeat the App Store description, we won’t list out all the features, but Overnight has all the tools you need to price, send, track and receive any express shipment.

Overnight can help you: Find a drop box location or post office, what time does this FedEx Kinko’s close, when is today’s latest drop, what are their hours, are they open on Saturday, what ZIP code am I in, tracking packages, getting a price quote, how much more if I insure my package, how much will I save if I can wait one more day, did that package arrive, I need to send this tracking information to my customer, how long will it take to drive to this drop location, I need directions to that UPS Store, how much will I save if I send it Ground, blah, blah, blah. You get the idea.

We hope you enjoy Overnight. It’s fresh out of the Bottle Rocket app oven. Lightly browned and crispy on the edges…

Announcing Voxie!

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

You heard it here first!  Voxie just hit the app store and it’s more than your run-of-the mill voice recorder…oh much more!  Unlike those other drab ordinary Plain Jane recording apps, Voxie is S-E-X-Y.  We’ve previously lauded all it’s great functionality but we know that sheer utility is not enough!  A man (or woman) cannot subsist on bread alone…you need panache, you need allure, you NEED Voxie!

Get it on the App Store or learn more at http://www.bottlerocketapps.com/#/voxie/

Who’s your Pal?

Monday, October 27th, 2008

We’re very excited to announce that Proxy Pal is now in the iTunes store!

Proxy Pal regularly updates new proxies for your surfing needs.  These proxies bypass your network to allow you to access blocked sites such as Facebook, MySpace, Ebay, Google, Craigslist, You Tube….  It’s also a great way to keep confidential surfing confidential.

Sounds simple enough?  Well yes…but we believe in distinguishing our apps and giving our users something genuinely unique. Proxy Pal is no different.  Instead of lame lists, we came up with some fun ways to serve up these proxies by giving them personality and attitude.  Not only will they elevate your mood but others won’t suspect your exuberant proxying ways.  It may look like one of those annoyingly addictive cutesy game on the surface…all the better to disguise your illicit proclivities even if that only means watching ninja stalker kitten for the thousandth time or bidding on a commemorative presidential candidate plate set.  Aren’t you sly!

Enjoy this app responsibly! And help us make ProxyPal as good as possible by sending any feedback you may have. We’d love to hear from you.

Wings Takes Flight

Monday, October 20th, 2008

With any business, you try to plan your strategy well, but ultimately realize some things just don’t come according to plan.  The same holds true for Bottle Rocket.  We were initially going to come out with some other apps before Wings, but now it’s one of our first to be in the iTunes store.  We’re not saying it’s a bad thing, just a bit of a surprise – like your little brother.  Ends up, we found some amazing talent to help us out with Wings, which sped up the process quite a bit.

It may be a simple approach, but it’s a fun one.  Drifting through a virtual world in different seasons while listening to music just seems to be a relaxing feeling in this all too stressed out world.  We’ve taken full advantage of the accelerometer to maneuver your way around.

Wings comes with four distinct virtual worlds categorized by season:

My personal favorite thing about this app is the fact that even when I bump into a mountain, I don’t crash. Wouldn’t the world be a better place if things only vibrated when bumped into rather than blowing up? Guess that’s what the virtual world is for. We hope you’ll like Wings as much as we’ve come to like it, as well as any friends that have played around with it!

Get it now at the App Store

And tell your friends about it. http://www.bottlerocketapps.com/#/wings/
