In The Daily’s App Watch section, they describe the Discovery Channel HD for iPad app as “just…awesome”. The app allows you to catch clips of its hit shows such as “Life”, Mythbusters” and “Deadliest Catch”. What helps make this app so interesting is the many personalities that are integrated into the app, such as Bear Grylls, who subjects himself to self-torture to showcase survival techniques and Mike Rowe who willingly takes on any gross job. An additional bonus is that you can check out upcoming episode schedules.
If you haven’t already, download the Discovery Channel HD for iPad app, featured as the #1 iPad app in iTunes and now in The Daily. Bottle Rocket is happy to be a part of such a successful app!
On Friday, March 4, 2011, Discovery Channel HD became the top free iPad app on the entire iTunes App Store, a mere three days after its debut. The interactive app, developed by Bottle Rocket Apps, complements Discovery Channel’s award-winning programs and offers fully integrated social TV check-in.
The Discovery Channel App for iPad brings fans greater access to their favorite programs and real-life characters with a collection of video clips from the network’s new hit series including GOLD RUSH: ALASKA, SONS OF GUNS, AUCTION KINGS and FLYING WILD ALASKA, as well as longtime fan-favorite signature series such as AMERICAN CHOPPER, DEADLIEST CATCH, MAN VS. WILD, MYTHBUSTERS and others. Fans can check in via the “I’m Watching” button to let their friends on Facebook and Twitter know what they are watching, all while getting the latest social media updates from Discovery and participating in conversations with fellow fans.
Discovery fans love the new app. One App Store reviewer summed it up this way: “This is what the iPad was created for. It is just gorgeous to look at. A must have!”
Their new app will officially and appropriately launch mid-March at the SXSW conference in Austin, TX. This app is not just a magazine in digital form. For example, upon launch of the free app, the user is presented with two options:
Choose from all available SPIN.com content for free
Choose from current and past issues, each priced at $1.99
Opening a SPIN issue will present the user with an interactive musical experience. Each issue comes with 60+ songs, which can be played within the app, played over AirPlay or purchased through iTunes. Each song corresponds with articles of featured artists and a easy-to-use sharing tool.
Bottle Rocket was pleased to share in this joint venture with SPIN and remains excited to see the iPad app in the Apple app store.
