Bottle Rocket’s Work For LEGO Featured In Apple’s New TV Ad

This weekend, Apple unveiled a new TV ad for the iPad Air.  We are excited and honored to see the LEGO Mindstorms app created by Bottle Rocket, featured. The spot, which is named ‘What’s Your Verse,’ is voiced by Robin Williams as he recites a speech from “Dead Poets Society.” You can see the original scene from the movie here.

We love that Apple chose the speech (transcribed below) for its spot.  At Bottle Rocket, we relate to it in so many ways.  We build experiences for medicine, law, business engineering, and many others, and we make them beautiful. At Bottle Rocket, our love and our passion is building beautiful things.

We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race.  And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering — these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love — these are what we stay alive for.

To quote from Whitman,

“O me, O life of the questions of these recurring. Of the endless trains of the faithless. Of cities filled with the foolish. What good amid these, O me, O life?

Answer: that you are here. That life exists and identity. That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.”

“That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.”

What will your verse be?

― N.H. Kleinbaum, Dead Poets Society

“Up until now, [second screen] has been mobile,” she said Oct. 20, speaking during a second screen panel at the Digital Hollywood conference. “Now, we’re seeing any screen can be the second screen.”
