There are many kids in this country who live each day with life-threatening illnesses. Fortunately, there are organizations out there focused on bringing joy into the lives of these brave little souls and their families who face extremely unfortunate circumstances. One such organization, and probably the most well-known, is the Make-A-Wish Foundation which was drawn in this week's Rocketeer charity drawing.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation, entered into the drawing by Rocketeer Beth Buckley, has a sole mission of granting the wishes of those kids diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. Those wishes can range from meeting a favorite celebrity to taking fun family vacations and everything else in between. A family vacation is just what Beth and her famliy got when her youngest son Liam, who was diagnosed with cancer, wished for a trip to Hawaii. The organization means a lot to Beth as she has seen first-hand the impact of wishes granted!
Make-A-Wish grants wishes every, on average, 38 minutes! This organization has brought so much happiness to so many sick children in an effort to make them feel better and give them a boost of strength in their courageous battles. Make-A-Wish's core belief is that granting these wishes can be game-changers and can change lives.

A couple of weeks ago, Rocketeer Michael Griffith, Director of User Experience, was on a panel- How Does Your App Look, Sound and Feel?- at the Application Developers Conference in Los Angeles. The panelists all offered some good insights and information, so be sure to check out the video of that session.
Here's a description of what was discussed:
"In the highly crowded landscape of mobile apps, user experience is a key differentiator between competitors. In this session, industry leaders in design, function, touch, and sound will discuss the importance of a completely submersible experience with a user and how a rich user experience drives high engagement.
Viewers will have a better understanding of the types of SDKs available to make their apps look, sound, and work better. Real world examples from leading companies will provide examples for attendees to follow and learn from. One such example is a sound company that has an SDK which allows developers to integrate high-quality surround sound into Unity-based games."

Q&A with Brian Fetherstonhaugh, chairman and CEO, OgilvyOne Worldwide:
You spoke about acquisitions... How have they worked and are any more planned?
Looking into the future, it’s a great market place for mobile and I’ll look to make sure we enter it either organically or by acquisitions. In the US, we acquired a company called Bottle Rocket applications, which is a very successful mobile company. It’s a world-class agency and it brings us new capabilities in the Americas.
We’ll be looking at mobile and data as the two areas for possible increased capability that could be either organic or through acquisitions.Read More
