Rocketeer Recognition: The Tabby Awards

The Tabby Awards – the only competition for the best tablet apps – announced three of Bottle Rocket’s apps as finalists today.

The Civil War Today was selected in the education category, National Geographic Today in the reference category and History in the video category.

Independent judges selected them among more than150 iOS, Android and Windows 8 apps submitted from over a dozen countries.

Winners of the Tabby Awards first competition for consumer apps will be announced later this summer. They will be celebrated at a ceremony during Tablet Ecosystem, a new conference covering the business of tablet apps to be held on November 13, 2013 in New York City.

Rocketeer Charity: Twice Blessed House

This week, Twice Blessed House was selected as our second charity of the month.

This organization provides temporary, affordable housing to transplant patients who live more than 50 miles from Baylor hospitals in Dallas and Fort Worth.

Because preparing and recovering from a transplant is not an easy road, Twice Blessed House supplies patients and their caregivers with a supportive environment and all the things they need for daily living.

Rocketeer Jourdan nominated Twice Blessed House after getting to know the organization through the Junior League of Dallas.

“I recently had the privilege of interviewing Twice Blessed House after they requested volunteers,” Jourdan said. “I was super intrigued by the organization and plan to volunteer with them next year.”

Addison: Our Mission Control Center

Bottle Rocket's Calvin Carter was featured in a video promoting our mission control center and home, Addison.

"We looked at 35 different buildings before we picked the one that we're in today," Calvin said. "We looked at everything from restaurants, a central location, access to highways, access to the airports - and Addison ended up being literally the center of the universe for us."
