Sundown High School Students Visit Bottle Rocket

We were happy to host a group of students from Sundown High School's Apollo program when they stopped by during their trip to DFW. Making the journey all the way from Sundown, a small Texas town outside of Lubbock, the students were eager to learn about mobile gaming. While here, they were treated to a presentation by our VP of Thruster, Matt Johnson and an appearance by our president, Calvin Carter. Rob Legg, who runs Thruster's business development and one of our Bottle Rocket Account Managers, David Coulson, were also on hand to give the students some perspective from the business side of the mobile apps industry.

Following the presentation, we took the students on a tour of our office. We're not sure what they found more exciting- the bean bag chairs or our wall-to-wall white boards! According to one of their teachers, Vowery Carlisle, they all were absolutely thrilled with the "wonderful presentation and all the great information" that we shared.

The Apollo program at Sundown ISD was developed with a special curriculum for gifted and talented students to enhance their intellectual and leadership ability, and their creative and productive thinking. The program is not only for high school students, but is open to all kids from K-12 who qualify.

Wishing the Sundown students continued success!

Rocketeer Charity: The ASPCA

Our support of charities that are meaningful to our Rocketeers continues for the month of February! The ASPCA has won our first drawing of the month and was entered by Rocketeer, Chris Koeberle. "I have shared my household with animals my entire life, and their trust and love has sustained me through many difficult times," said Koeberle.

The ASPCA is an organization that means so much to so many people and certainly to so many animals! Their mission since 1866 has been, "to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States," according to founder Henry Bergh.

Headquartered in New York, the ASPCA has a strong local presence throughout the country and currently has over 1 million supporters. It's the first humane organization to be given the authority to investigate and arrest anyone who commits a crime against an animal.

Koeberle has "long felt that animal welfare is a universal obligation of humanity," and is "pleased to have the opportunity and inspiration to help an organization that shares that goal."

A&E, Lifetime & The History Channel iPhone Apps Are Live!

As if watching your favorite A&E, Lifetime and The History Channel shows on your iPad wasn't enough, you can now get the apps to watch them on your iPhone! The iPhone app has the same features as the previously released iPad version which include watching full episodes, creating customized Watchlists and having access to exclusive clips and deleted scenes never before shown on TV.

The awesome thing about being able to watch the shows on both the iPad and iPhone is that you can actually begin an episode on one device and finish on another using iCloud synching.

We are especially happy about these newly released apps because they are the first three AWE universal binary apps! AWE is our Anywhere Watch Experience division that provides users with deep and quick access to content most relevant to them and the means to consume it whenever, wherever and however they choose.

Check out iTunes to download your A&ELifetime and The History Channel apps today!

#61 on the Forbes' America's Most Promising Companies List

We are some super excited Rocketeers today as we've just been ranked #61 on the Forbes' America's Most Promising Companies list! The list consists of 100 privately held, high-growth companies in the U.S. that are ranked based on growth, quality of management team, margins, market size and key partnerships.

Not shocking, the list is dominated by a slew of tech companies. However, there are several non-tech companies on the list that "are finding their niches by applying technology to long stagnant business models," according to Forbes' staff writer, J.J. Colao.

Starting off the year by adding more Rocketeers to our uber-talented and dedicated team, we look forward to a successful 2013 as we grow in the continuously exploding mobile industry!
