Strut Your Mutt: Our August Charity of the Month

The SPCA of Texas' annual fun run, Strut Your Mutt, is one of Dallas' most popular fun runs for charity! Thousands of pets and their owners walk, run, roll and stroll the broad sidewalks of Fair Park – enjoying food, music, kids' activities and exciting booths. And, it’s all for a good cause… to help the SPCA of Texas rescue, heal and find homes for tens of thousands of North Texas animals.

I nominated this month’s charity because I am an animal lover and wish I could adopt every single animal the SPCA cares for. Since that is not the case, donating money and time to the SPCA is the next best option. I am grateful that I work for a company that allows the employees to select charities we give to twice a month. It feels good to help those in need!

The SPCA of Texas is the leading animal welfare agency in North Texas. The non-profit organization operates two shelters and three spay/neuter clinics located in Dallas and McKinney, and maintains a team of five animal cruelty investigators to respond to thousands of calls in eight North Texas counties. The SPCA of Texas is dedicated to providing every animal exceptional care and a loving home.

Judy Johnson, director of product innovation for Dallas-based app developer Bottle Rocket, thinks a lot of people are approaching the idea of the second screen completely wrong.

“Up until now, [second screen] has been mobile,” she said Oct. 20, speaking during a second screen panel at the Digital Hollywood conference. “Now, we’re seeing any screen can be the second screen.”
